Dotcode Localisation and Inspection System

Covicon has completed another machine vision integration in the packaging industry. Our team has integrated an advanced camera setup across 8 installations. The goal was to precisely place codes on small packages and check if the codes were correctly printed.

Project Highlights:

  • Robust Inspection Software: At the heart of this project is our custom-made software, designed to capture high-resolution images of the packaging and make the correct decisions. This tool is the backbone of our project, ensuring every product meets our quality standards.
  • Positioning: Our system does more than just capturing images. It also analyses these images to determine the optimal positioning for code printing. The biggest difficulty being the packages being soft, and sometimes containing dents or being positioned at an angle.
  • Verification System: After printing the code, our setup conducts a second layer of inspection, verifying if the code is present and accurately placed. This double-check mechanism guarantees the accuracy and reliability.
  • User-Friendly Interface: We've developed a user interface that not only makes system calibration possible, but it also allows for comprehensive system monitoring and follow-up. It's designed with the user in mind, ensuring ease of use without compromising on functionality.
  • Archive Integration: With the integration of an archive, our system offers unparalleled insights into the entire vision process, allowing for real-time monitoring and retrospective analysis. This feature is invaluable for continuous improvement and ensuring optimal performance.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Vaskon nv. This again illustrates one of Valtech's strengths. Two different companies with their own knowledge and experience joining forces and working together to achieve a complete setup.
